Hi! It’s Susan from Pittsburgh, PA, and it’s 25 degrees here right now with a wind chill of 19 degrees. 3-6 inches are expected through tomorrow. That’s really not that bad for January in Pittsburgh. But it gets to be a pain when you need to leave for work or go to bed at night and can’t get your snow loving dog to come in to the house. Stay warm and be safe in this weather. We northerners expect it, but I’m sure it’s awful when you get it down south!

It was in the high 40’s here in the Sacramento area this morning and is supposed to warm up to about the mid-50’s. All you people from colder places will laugh at me, but I miss Los Angeles winters where it wasn’t uncommon to have days in the 70’s or 80’s.

Hi! I live in Winterville, ME;yes “Winterville”!!! The high temp this morning was 12 F with a wind chill of 0. We have about 2 1/2 feet of snow on the ground right now.Our average winter snow fall is about 180 inches per winter season. Happy sledding. Carol Emery

Hello from Ridgefield CT! As it happens, this is the warmest day we’ve had for a couple of weeks. It was 20 degrees this morning but lately it’s been hovering around zero most of the time. We’re in for another cold snap this weekend, so we are enjoying it while we can. What an awful winter it is for most of the country!

I am in Toronto.
It’s -6C here.
What I find funny is that when you say 22 degrees, we Canadians read that as 22C which is a very nice spring day indeed.
I am sure it’s colder in other places but we get these nasty winds off of the lake so the reported wind chill is what you dress for. Right now thats -20C. If your going to wear earrings you MUST wear a hat. Metal earrings will freeze to ears and cosmetic services are not covered by OHIP (the provences health care system)

108 degrees. I live in Australia. I would rather be cold and be able to rug up and still be functional than be this hot!! Even with the air conditioning it is still 86 degrees inside. The road outside my house has patches that are melting. It’s horrid!

It is 9 degrees in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. There is at least a foot of snow on the ground, beginning with the 12/24 snow, then a few more snows on top of that, then a good four inches yesterday. We expect 0 with up to -30 wind chill by Saturday morning. Hoping more propane is delivered soon so we will continue to have heat, hot water and can cook. It’s so cold that not only are the politicians’ hands in their own pockets, so are the lawyers’! Well, maybe a few of them anyway.

Here in Ochapowace, Saskatchewan it is -30 degrees Celcius , I looked it up and that is -22 Farenheight. So cold that even after warming up my truck for 25 minutes this morning it still felt like I was driving on square tires. Kind of like the Flinstones..lol But lots of snow to skidoo if it warms up a bit this weekend.

We are in the deep freeze here in Spencer, Iowa. These past few days it has broken all the previous records. The temps have been -37,-25, and -23 below zero. That is without any windchill factor. Today the windchill is -42 below zero. We also have 48.5 inches of snow since Dec. 1. We are truly in the “Deep Freeze”

Right at this time in Bloomington, Minnesota, home of the Mall of America, the current temperature is 7F with a windchill of -11F. The winds are blowing at a balmy 30 MPH, blowing all the fresh snow we’re currently getting, into your face, down your sleeves, etc. Snowpiles so big on the curbs you must be careful pulling out into some of the streets because can’t see uncoming traffic.
While this may seem cold to some, this is a walk in the park from the temps we’ve had for the last couple of weeks, -20F with wind chills tooooooo cold to even think about.
As I write this I am in my office with a little space heater constantly going under my desk. I dred going home from work (can you imagine that) because that means brushing off snow, scraping off ice and getting into a very cold car for the trip home on very icy streets. Boy am I a complainer or WHAT??????????

Tonight the temp here in northern Minnesota will be -20 with -35 degree windchills. We have a windchill warning here again. They said that skin will freeze in 10 minutes or less in this kind of weather.
Why do we live here? If Minnesota summers and autumns weren’t so beautiful, I think our population would be considerably smaller!

We live 22 miles south of Tulsa and the temperature was 19 degrees on my way home today. Tomorrow morning, Friday Jan 8, the temp is supposed to be 3, with Saturday morning being -1. These temperatures do not include the wind chill factor.

It is warm here today, it is 24 degrees in Fraser Michigan 48026. There is enough snow on the ground that we put colored flashing l.e.d. lights on our two white dogs’ collars when we let them out. Amazing how quickly you lose sight of a white dog in the snow.

How cold, is it? It is so cold both vehicle batteries froze solid & the sides were bulging, it is so cold here you can get new battery delivery & installation but, you can’t get a tow truck for 24 hours. It is so cold your eyelashes freeze to your glasses. It is so cold that – 42 with no wind is a balmy day. It is so cold the “sundogs” (ice crystals rainbows)out shine the sun. It is so cold that the joggers have gone indoors, but the bicycle nuts are still out. It is so cold your boots squeak with a high pitch on the snow. It is so cold I wish it would snow because then it gets warmer.
It is colder here then in Lethbridge, & we don’t get chinooks.

It’s only about -10 C here in Edinburgh, Scotland (och, aye)…but there has been snow on the ground since 21st December and that’s almost unheard of. We are having the longest and worst “freeze” for 30 years, they say. We are running out of grit/salt for the roads, schools are shut, flights and trains affected, the gas supply is also running out, the refuse has not been lifted for days as the lorries cannot get along the side roads…”we’re all doomed”, as Private Fraser in dad’s Army used to say! Oh, and we have freezing fog this morning….

Osh in Lafayette, LA. It’s a very chilly 30 degrees at 11pm Thursday night with a low in a few hours of 24. It’s been raining all day so the cold goes straight to your bones! Tomorrow night a colder 19 degrees and Saturday night?!!! a very ice cold 17 degrees. I don’t remember it being this cold down here in many, many, many years.

We live in Rapid River MI. It’s 11 & close to two feet of snow & more on the way. With the wind i’m sure it’s colder. So the best thing to do is to stay in & drink lot’s of coffee or tea.

Burr!! For the first time in 20 years we here in Channelview TX are facing two days of lows in the teens. Tomorrow (Sat.) it’s supposed to be 18 and Sunday 19, but we should warm up to just above freezing by Monday. This far south we aren’t accustomed to such cold (at least for us) weather and our local newscasts are filled with talk about how cold it seems. Of course, I know most places are much, much colder, but for Channelview, this is a long time coming. Rather than complain, I wish I could find a way to save some of the cold for the 100-plus degree days that will start in May or June. Guess that’s life–never exactly the temp. you want it to be.

I guess the saying here in Wisconsin is “if you don’t like the weather either stop complaining or move”. My husband and I have seriously been looking into the later. Born and raised in WI with over 35+ years each as residents has taken its toll you might say. Our winters over the past 10 years are not as severe as they used to be, but I thought I’d throw in my 2cents anyway. I always look at windchill as being the crippling effect, so I list it as well.
December really varied: The worst of it was -10 to -25, and with windchills it reached as low as -40. The average has been -5 to 10 above, and windchill effects knocking it down another 5-10 degrees.
The Christmas weather was like a yo-yo, hovering around the freezing point and with lots of participation making travel hazardous (we are still making up get togethers to celebrate the holiday).
This coming week is forecasted to be in the 20 – 36 above range! The later is a HEATWAVE up here

I’m in Alaska. Today we’re at a balmy 30 degrees at my house. With the wind it’s about 10 degrees colder… but for all of last week it was between 0 and 10 degrees with sustained north winds of at 35 to 40mph, making it feel like about -20 or a little colder. Still, I know what -50 feels like and -20 just doesn’t compare. Summer IS about 6 or 7 months away here and I’m definately counting.

Our morning low this morning was 14 degrees, up 5 degrees from yesterday, and our high for the day will be 20 degrees. These are real temperatures…without wind chill…in the deep South! I don’t think it’s reached above freezing even once since New Year’s Eve, but even if I’m wrong about that this is coldest January I remember here in Huntsville, Alabama. My sympathies to every one who’s had enough, especially up there in North Dakota

I may have made a mistake in choosing this property. It’s just that 10 acres in the middle of Alaska seemed… well… exotic in a bizarre (insane) sort of way. I’m not sure what the temperature is as the thermometer outside is completely obscured with frost. When I saw it the other day is was slipping down past the -20F line. I wonder if it will stop getting colder at some point here as the thermometer only reads to -40. Good thing I didn’t get one that reads to -60… It might REALLY get cold then! The snow blower didn’t start again, so I sent the Misses out to shovel, actually she enjoys it – says it’s great exercise. It only took her 5 hours this last time to shovel the thousand feet of driveway. I stayed inside working on wiring – new house and all… all out of pocket so it’s a little slow on the build. But we are getting there. You might think ill of me for sending her out in the cold, but the house is as yet unheated, so I think we both were sharing in it. Actually, she was probably warmer as she was hustling while I was sitting mostly. It’s taken the power company almost three and a half years to get the lines in and we should have power in a few weeks. That will be nice. It’s been cold enough that we’ve not seen any porcupines in the last 4 months. Moose have been coming down out of the mountains into the lower forest so we need to keep an eye out for those big old buggers. They can get unruly if they are particularly hungry. Kind of turf guardy at times. Well, I should get going. With only 6 hours of daylight right now I need to hustle on this wiring. It’ll sure be nice to have power… and heat… and light….. I think I’m getting a cold.

Our really cold weather began on 1/1/10 when we experienced -37, the next day we started our day at -46 and since then it’s been as low as -57 and as high as 4 above. Right now the windchill is way below -50. We live in the northwest corner of Minnesota right below Manitoba. I am convinced that God gives us this crummy weather so we have something interesting to visit about with strangers. Stay warm!

We’re finally going to get warmer weather this week in Nebraska, and I’m so grateful for that! I only wish I could send Amy in Australia some of the snow and cold as I have a friend that lives there too and I know it’s been unbearable for you all in a completely opposite way.
We’ve had nothing but snow for over a month, and I think I’ve forgotten what the ground looks like. Ha ha ha….or that I have small trees and plants out in my yard. There are some drifts as high as 6-8 feet, and all last week we were getting more snow and in a windchill warning. This dropped our temp. down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit. You couldn’t be outside for more then 10 minutes or any exposed skin had a chance of extreme frostbite. It’s been miserable, and I’m eagerly awaiting a sun-kissed summer!!!

This week it is getting colder each day. Tonight it will be -22 C here in Joliette, in Québec (Canada). None of our two cats would dare putting one toe outside. So, this week end we prefer staying home, well covered up with warm cloths . I will go out only monday to go to work. My daughter is going in Cuba monday, i am enviing her so much !

Oh what a wonderful morning -almost 20 C below zero! The house we live in is huge meaning cold. Lots of snow lucky I have some furcoats would not survive without them! Sweden is dressed in a beautyful white and the woods are so facinating with all this snow – up to 40 cm deep!” I wish everyone to experience this!

I live in Cowiche, WA. It got down to 7 degrees, then it snowed 10 inches, then it thawed a bit, then froze solid. Could not move my truck because it was frozen in the ice. Had to use cat litter to move my truck, and it was used cat litter. YUUUKKKK!!! Even with a frozen nose it stunk BAD!

I thought I would tell you just how hot it is here. We are in the middle of a heat wave in Central Western New South Wales. Australia. I live in a small town called Narromine and the temperature today was 41 degrees that is gettting very warm. We decided to go 1 hour to a town called Parkes which was holding an Elvis Presley 75th Anniversary of his death it attracted around 10,000 visitores to their town with lots of look alike Elvis Fans all dressed as Elvis in very colourful suits and some great cars. Unfortunately the temperature there was no cooler. Regards from down under. Janice

Howdy
I am also in N.C. and when I got up this morning it was 24 degrees and my dog has a favorite blanket which she lays on at night. Well this morning when she went out her doggie door, she dragged her blanket with her to keep warm on her walk. We laughed and she gave a look like well you wear a coat. She will lay on the floor vent when its cold out to keep warm and also lays on it when it is hot out for the air conditioner. She keeps us laughing! Happy New Year!

We live 21 miles from the Mexican border and 18 miles east of Nogales, AZ. It hasn’t been above freezing here at night for weeks. In the arroyos, it has been down to 12 degrees. The creek bottoms (one block from our house, where the buzzards usually hang out) hits 18 degress at night.
But the thing is, we have no central heating. We have a five bedroom house with a gas insert in the living room, a wall heater in the downstairs bathroom, and wall heaters in our two offices; and that’s it. Mañana.

Its colder than a witch’s …. broom. Its 15 below zero rite now but last week it was 45 below zero.brrrrrr. Im use to it because I live in NORTH POLE ALSAKA. I was in Jackson Hole Wyoming this weekend and we had a lovely day at -24 degrees. Of course anything below 0 is cold, but with the wind going, this was just bone numbing. I got back to Sale Lake City to a warm and cozy 22 degrees, a complete heat wave, really. Christie Ward

Last month our night temps were down to 19 degrees and we got 9 inches of snow before Christmas – all of my plants froze and some will not see spring again. We have had balmy days lately (54F) here in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California, but a new storm is due Monday night, with the possibility of snow – again. Good thing we got the heater fixed!

I am in Hamilton, Ontario Canada, on the shores of beautiful Lake Ontario and today the weather is -6 with a windchill of -13 (of course that is Celcius. So that would be 21.2 F and the windchill would be 8.599, so that is pretty cold. Definitely cold enough to enjoy some extra sparkle!

Today was the warmest day in almost 2 weeks; the sun was out & it hit a high of 31 degrees. I’m in NJ across from Manhattan so we always have the same temp as New York City. I think it’s been just absolutely freezing and today on the news, it said it’s actually been 3.6 degrees warmer on average (this record includes December till yesterday). Right now it’s about 28 deg. & they’re calling for a low of 21 deg. with flurries and same for tomorrow. Flurries; a high of 30 deg & a low of 221 deg. I know the South has been suffering – my granddaughter went to Florida last week to lay on the beach & get some sun while visiting her dad but she’s been wearing 2 sweaters & a jacket even during the day! She’s so disappointed. The worst thing is the damage to the fruit because our prices will go up dramatically.
Hope you post the results of temperatures from around the US.

hello everyone..
wrote some weeks ago about the cold temperatures .. and got the converting totally wrong, Im in Norway and thinking Celsius.. and you guys Fahrenheit, I guess…anyway.. what we HAD for WEEKS was -15F.. that’s COLd for the part of Norway where I live ( if there is anyone thinking that there is polar bears walking in the streets over here, you are wrong, big time) .. Especially so early in the winter.. before Christmas.. and continuing .. now.. fortunately warmer, only 10 F.. but cold enough.. I want some warm sunny weather now… please.. anyone.. send a bottle ;o)
