My name is Val. I live outside of Hobart the Capital of the state of Tasmania, in Australia. Our lowest temperature today was 9 degrees Celsius (48 degrees F) at 1.39 am today the 16th January. Maybe warm compared to a few States in the US at the moment but it is supposed to be the middle of summer here. Brrrr.

I live a block from Santa Monica beach in Southern California where I run and exercise. The past few days at the beach has been a little too warm to work out, about 75 to 80 degrees. Looking forward to cooler temps! It’s too early in the year for a sunburn, but I got one now!

We are waking up to yet another day of dangerous temps. It is -29 degrees this morning. The wind has died down, thank goodness. Yesterday there were windchills of -45. In northern MN they had air temps of -45 and wind chills that made conditions even worse.
They say we are suppose to warm up to 6 degrees today,we could even make it up to 16 this weekend. Woo hoo. We could be sunbathing by next week, it’s going to warm up to 20! Don’t forget the sunscreen.

Here in Bradford Vermont.It was -31.4 degrees at 7:00 am-this morning .Now at -26.2. Even the birds have not shown up at the feeders yet-There isn’t much of a wind so that is helpful- furnace has been running nearly no-stop for days.

Hi Amy, our temp today was a chilly [?] 23 degrees [min] and 43 degrees max. I live in Perth, West Australia, and we measure temperature in Celsius [centigrade] here. That makes our min temp a balmy 79 degrees F, and our max about 109 degrees F. Care to trade? rofl, Frank.

Summer is coming soon as some trees are starting to bud. What makes it seem colder than it really is, is the fact that it was a balmy 61 F the other day and this cold snap.

It is -15 with a windchill of about -32 out in the country, near Bloomingdale, Indiana. Just going out to the car (about 25 ft.), my dalmation/basset dog got icicles hanging from his nose! But he refuses to be separated from me, so we just dealt with it together until the car warmed up a little. Now we are at our shop in town, where my husband is running around with heaters thawing out a frozen water pipe, and the dog and I are hugging a space heater until the wood fire gets going! At almost 60, I think I am getting too old for this sub-zero stuff!

Lafayette, LA. Normally humid and sweaty, was a frigid 26F at 6am. Currently 8am and 28. The high today should reach 47 and back down to 26 again tonight. I suppose for a lot of people that’s practically a day at the beach. So, I dare not complain. Besides, that’s less weeding for me and hopefully a couple less mosquitos. Have a great day!

The lowest temperature I recorded at my house overnight is -6.1 degrees (F). With wind chill, it feels like -18.3.
This is the coldest it’s been here since Jan, 1994. That year we went from the beginning of Dec to the end of Feb where the temperature never went above freezing (32 F). Within that time, the temperature stayed below zero for 39 days! It was so cold and snowy, that school let out 10 days late even after giving up all the scheduled holidays and attending school on 3 Saturdays, for the first time ever. There were also snow piles at our house until May 3rd.
We’re all hoping those records remain unchallenged!
Be careful when spending any time outside for at these temperatures, frostbite can start within minutes. Seems like the perfect time to cozy up before a warm fire with a hot beverage of one’s choice, and read a good book:o) In fact, I hear a book calling me now….

Wednesday night here in rural Marion, Iowa we hit a record low of -29, with Thursday warming up to -14. we got down to -30 thursday night into this Friday morning. When I went to leave for work at 9 am it was a lovely -27. To say the least, My van did not start. So I am quite literally “stranded in Iowa”.

In Eagle Point Oregon the temp is 39F and is predicted to go up to 42F. There is fog and yesterday it was 32F and the fog froze to branches making them look like diamond encrusted wands. It is really pretty here.

My friends & I meet for breakfast in a local market house every Friday
where we purchase fruit, vegetables and fresh meat but this morning
it was so cold in there we kept our coats on to eat and then after three
cups of coffee discovered a pipe had broken in the women’s restroom
and we weren’t able to use it!!!!!

Hello from Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas:
It was 17 nippy degrees F. early this morning in the Spa City. There was talk yesterday about closing the opening day (Jan. 16) of the Oaklawn race meet. The track crew didn’t water the track as usual last night because the moisture would have made the dirt track still frozen this morning. The horses and jockeys won’t run or ride if the track is frozen.
My mini dachshunds have their bed close to a portable oil-filled radiator in the living room. Gandolf has his nose just millimeters from it. He and Grover are sleeping very close together. The sun is out now and the temperature is warming up but it is still very cold.
Well, that’s the news from Lake Woebegone, oops, I mean Lake Hamilton.

I am from the The Bronx, in New York City. Right now it is 15 degrees here and that is only during the day. It’s real real cold. Yesterday a plane with 155 passengers had to land in the Hudson River. I can not image how they felt in the river when the degrees was the same. Some of them were in the water. Thank God they all got out safe. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and our temperature last Thursday was -51 degrees ( -36 plus windchill factor) ! That was colder than Siberia and both of the Poles ! We’ve been locked into an Arctic front that has kept the temperatures in the -30’s for over a week…….now THAT’S COLD !!!!!!!

It was around 7 degrees this morning in Columbia, TN. Now at 2:30 it is 18. We are supposed to have a high of 22 today and a low of 11 tonight. I’m originally from the Northeast, so it’s not so bad!

It was a warm and balmy minus 20 this morning! I’m in Northwestern Massachusetts, just near the New Hampshire border. It “warmed up” to a whopping 11 degrees at noon today. We finished our errands and haven’t stuck our noses (my husband and I) out since! They’d probably freeze right off!

I live in South Elgin,IL and this morning was the coldest it has been in a while. This morning it was -24 degrees and the wind chill was between -35 and -40. By the afternoon it was a balmy -3, it is 9:47pm and it is -4. Tomorrow it is to be a heat wave 15degrees.

Mason City, Iowa. We are about 130 miles north of Des Moines. In the early morning hours we were at -31. You read that correctly. 31 below zero actual temprature. I believe the Arctic was warmer.

I live in cary to but according to my digital therm. outside it reached 7 degree’s and as you know the wind did not help that out at all! i had to wake up for work in that freezing cold, good thing all my jewelry stayed nice and warm in my room while i froze waiting for the heat to catch up in the car!!!

I live in Southern New Jersey and it’s a blistering 7 degrees! Went to the Metallica concert last night (1/17) with my son and his girlfriend…….it was a Christmas gift for him, and in Philly with the windchill it was 4 degrees! OMG it was freezing! We had 5 layers on, got into the concert and then we were all sweating and peeled off our layers……..then after the kick A** concert had to put everything back on and walk back out into the cold to the train. Today it’s warmed up to a killer 20 degrees. I hate this weather!
